I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge and thank Paul and Bonnie Curtis for all of their arduous work, dedication, and leadership in Paul’s past year as Chairman of the Board and throughout his Moose career. So, I have many guys and gals who have my back. I also accept this high honor in memory of the following people: Lodi Lodge Charter Member, officer, Past Governor, Fellow, and longtime Secretary as it was called back then, William Masopust Sr., who would have been 100 years old Lodi Chapter Charter Member, First Senior Regent, Star Recorder and First Collegian, Josephine Masopust, and my brother, a Pilgrim of the order, Coach Billy Masopust.Īlthough I have no immediate family left, there is a saying many of us in New Jersey use, “I got a guy.” Well in this Moose Fraternity I am lucky enough to have you, my Moose family. I accept this high honor and responsibility on behalf of the leaders and former leaders of this Fraternity, and on behalf of my brothers and sisters of the Lodi Moose # 1971 and on behalf of the New Jersey Moose Association. I thank the Past Supreme Governors/Chairman of the Board of Directors, whom I referenced for their leadership, guidance, continued teaching and understanding that has charted the path we take today. I join the people who have led this fraternity and its brothers and sisters in the past. I grew up with the lodge and chapter books on our kitchen table, and a lodge where the men and women worked and continue to work together in community service, so from One Moose, to Stronger Together, to Make it Happen, and Because We Care is nothing new to me. Who would have thought that when I first joined the Moose in 1984 that I would become the Chairman of the Board of Directors? I find it hard to believe that someone who only became a Moose under the orders of my parents, William, and Josephine Masopust, is addressing you, the great brothers, and sisters of the Moose Fraternity.
